X'inhu Limited Aċċess Xorta waħda?

UPDATE 11/03/08: Kun żgur li taqra l-kumment eċċellenti u dettaljata mill- Dessie Lunsford għal din il-kariga.

Stajt ilhom jaħdmu fuq proġett sigriet editjar tech għal ktieb up-li ġejjin u referenzi dan blog dħul mill Tyler Butler fuq il-ECM blog MSDN. This is the first time I personally read a clear definition of the meaning of Limited Access. Here’s the meat of the definition:

Fil SharePoint, utenti anonimi’ drittijiet huma determinati mill-livell Limited permess Aċċess. Limited Aċċess huwa livell permess speċjali li ma jistgħux jiġu assenjati lil utent direttament jew grupp. Ir-raġuni dan jeżisti huwa minħabba li jekk għandek librerija jew sottosit li faqqa 'wirt permessi, u inti tagħti utent / grupp aċċess biss għal dak il-librerija / sottosit, sabiex ħsieb kontenut tiegħu, l-utent / grupp għandhom ikollhom xi aċċess għall-web għerq. Inkella l-utent / grupp se jkun kapaċi jibbrawżjaw il-librerija / sottosit, anki jekk dawn ikollhom id-drittijiet hemm, għaliex hemm affarijiet fil-web għerq li huma meħtieġa biex jirrendu-sit jew librerija. Għalhekk, meta inti tagħti permessi grupp biss għal sottosit jew librerija li qed tikser wirt permessi, SharePoint awtomatikament se jagħti Limited Aċċess għal dak il-grupp jew l-utent fuq il-web għerq.

Din il-kwistjoni taqa up issa u mbagħad fuq il-forums MSDN u stajt dejjem kien kurjuż (iżda mhux kurjużi biżżejjed biex figura hija out qabel illum :)).

I ma 'spiss Jaqblu mal Big George Will, Imma Hu Dritt Dwar Riżultati Dreary

L-għeluq ħasbu fuq dan b'mod ieħor artikolu matt titkellem ukoll għal problemi aħna sikwit jiffaċċjaw fil-komunità teknika:

"Such dreary developments, antiċipat b'ċertezza, għandhom jitħallsu philosophically."

This puts me in mind of one of the presentations I gave at the SharePoint Best Practices conference last month. I was describing how to get "great" rekwiżiti kummerċjali u xi ħadd fl-udjenza staqsa, fl-effett, what to do if circumstances are such that it’s impossible to get great requirements. Per eżempju, kultura kumpanija partikolari li tpoġġi fil quddiem min jiġbru rekwiżiti / analista negozju, preventing direct communication with end users. This is a serious impediment to obtaining great business requirements. My answer was "walk away." I’m not a big humorist, so I was surprised at how funny this was to the audience. Madankollu, I’m serious about this. If you can’t get good requirements, you can be certain that a dreary outcome will result. Who wants that? I’m a consultant, dan huwa aktar realistiku (għalkemm terriblement uġigħ u drastiċi) for me to walk away. Madankollu, jekk int għeruq f'kumpanija u ma jridux, jew ma tistax, walk away, George (for once 🙂 ) juri l-mod.

SharePoint Designer Workflow u Attachments Email — A konsumazzjoni devoutly li xtaq

Sfortunatament, it is not to be. We cannot send an email with attachments from a SharePoint Designer workflow using out of the box features. This wish comes up with increasing regularity on the MSDN forums.

Madankollu, l- SharePoint pjattaforma, kif ma 'ħafna affarijiet, does offer us a path forward. Nistgħu joħolqu azzjonijiet tad-dwana which we then incorporate into our workflows. Once installed, azzjoni custom jistenna u jħoss bħal kull azzjoni oħra (e.g. Iġbor Data, Log Messaġġ, eċċ).

Ħolqien ta 'azzjoni tad-dwana huwa big muntanji li jitilgħu, madankollu, for End Users. This codeplex project provides this functionality: http://www.codeplex.com/SPDActivities. Pulling that down and installing it is also beyond the skills of typical End Users. Madankollu, huwa pjuttost sempliċi għal admin SharePoint biex tagħmel dan, hekk jekk issib ruħek li jeħtieġu biex jiżviluppaw workflow ma din il-kapaċità, taħdem ma admin SharePoint tiegħek biex tikseb dan isir.

Tip Quick: Kkonfigurat Sigurtà biex Ħalli Admins aċċess għal kull sit tiegħi fil SharePoint

Fil sinjal li Computing Soċjali qed jibda jieħu off ma SharePoint, I see an increased number of My Site type questions. One common question goes something like this:

"I am an administrator and I need to be able to access every My Site. How do I do that?"

The trick here is that each My Site is its own site collection. SharePoint security is normally administered at the site collection level and this trips up many a SharePoint administrator. Normalment, she already has access to configure security in the "main" kollezzjonijiet sit u ma jistgħux jirrealizzaw li dan ma awtomatikament xogħol għal siti tiegħi.

Kollezzjonijiet sit kollettivament jgħixu ġewwa kontenitur akbar, which is the web application. Farm admins can can configure security at the web app level and this is how admins can grant themselves access to any site collection in the web application. This blog entry describes one of my personal experiences with web application policies. I defined a web application policy by accident: http://paulgalvin.spaces.live.com/Blog/cns!1CC1EDB3DAA9B8AA!255.entry.

Web application policies can be dangerous and I suggest that they be used sparingly. If I were an admin (u nirringrazzja goodness I am not), I would create a separate AD account named something like "SharePoint Web App Administrator" and give that one account the web application security role it needs. I would not configure this kind of thing for the regular farm admin or individual site collection admins. It will tend to hide potential problems because the web app role overrides any lower level security settings.

Tip Quick: Użu “IsDocument:1” biex Trim Riżultati

Aġġornament 11/03/08: Fellow MVP Mike Walsh ġustament li dan huwa WSS 3.0 / MOSS feature. It does not work in WSS 2.0 jew qabel.

Updatte 11/03/08: (It-tieni aġġornament f'ġurnata waħda!): Be sure to read the excellent comment from "nowise" għal aktar info u ieħor link XREF tajba.

Żewġ mistoqsijiet ħarāu f'suċċessjoni rapida din il-ġimgħa fuq il-forums MSDN tistaqsi varjazzjoni ta 'din:

"When I search a keyword, folders minn librerija dokument tiegħi ma 'dak keyword fil-path tagħhom se toħroġ l-ewwel fir-riżultati search tiegħi. Ma rridx biex dan iseħħ. Files with that keyword are more important to me. I don’t want to see folders at all."

This is actually quite easy to do out of the box. Simply add a "IsDocument:1" għall-tfittxija query u tfittxija SharePoint (kemm WSS u MOSS) se tillimita ruħha li turi dokumenti attwali.

Quick jiffissaw: Web Services li jinteraġixxu ma SharePoint, InvalidOperationException

A snin miljun ilu, I helped developed a web service that was invoked via a custom action for a SharePoint Designer workflow. Din il-ġimgħa, il-klijent riedu li jitmexxa għall-produzzjoni (finalment!) hekk għamilna.

L-azzjoni custom maħduma multa, iżda s-servizz web hija qajmet ma, tagħtina dan l-iżball:

System.InvalidOperationException: This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database. To connect this server to the server farm, use the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard, located on the Start menu in Administrative Tools.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebApplication.Lookup(Uri requestUri)

Turns out that I forgot to add the service to the SharePoint application pool in IIS. Once I did that, maħduma multa.

This MSDN forum posting gave me the clue I needed: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepointdevelopment/thread/2c97c004-7118-4e06-a62c-b2b0ac07ac99

VPN Strikes darb'oħra, Jonqos Me Down u theddida għall-eżistenza Beer My

Tonight, I’m doing some hobby work with a virtual machine running on my desktop. I’m connecting via IE on my laptop and I’m noticing horrible performance. IE keeps freezing, speċjalment meta I aċċess xejn fir-rokna ta 'fuq tal-lemin li jikkawża drop-down biex, ukoll, drop down. I would click on Site Actions and things freeze up for a while. They would freeze long enough for me to switch over to another browser window and do something else. If I confine myself to navigating around from page to page, huwa raġonevolment malajr, but even that feels slow. Normalment, things are very fast.

I’ve had this happen to me before and I think that I ended up rebooting at the time. I’m about to do that when I somehow notice I’m still VPN’d to a client from 2 jiem ilu(!). I disconnect and that that solves my performance problem.
